Health Ministry

encouraging health of body, mind, and spirit

The Health Ministry is a small group of working, licensed health care professionals who volunteer their knowledge and time to St. Dominic Parish. The ministry members encourage wellness and optimal health from a whole person perspective- body, mind, and spirit.

Although led by nursing professionals, members also represent other health professions. These caring professionals are available by request, to assess, counsel, educate, and connect parishioners to appropriate local health care and programs. All requests and contacts are confidential; each professional also brings to their ministry the special gift of respect and sharing of Roman Catholic religious beliefs and practices. Health ministry members work with the pastor, staff and lay parishioners to identify ways in which the ministry can best serve Saint Dominic parish and the community.

The current agenda of the health ministry includes:

  • health tips listed in the weekly church bulletin
  • Ministry members are also available to respond to parishioners who call for help to cope with acute or chronic illness issues.
  • The Health Ministry coordinates with other caring ministries such as the Stephen Ministry, home visits by Eucharistic ministers, and Social Justice.
